6 No-Code Web Design Platforms For 2025
By Gavin Kilgallon on Tuesday, 11 March 2025
Building a bespoke website can be a time-consuming and expensive process. While there is no substitute for a tailor-made website that perfectly represents your brand, the reality is that some small startups simply do not have the resources available to achieve this. This is when the use of a no-code platform might be an option.
As a web design agency, you might think we are worried about the increasing popularity of no-code platforms and that we might become redundant. The reality is quite different. Whilst we understand there is a place for these platforms, they cater for a completely different market with a small budget.
In this article, we will discuss what a no-code platform is, the good and bad of six popular solutions and how they may influence the web industry.
Six Platforms We Have Come Across
Below, we’ve picked six no-code platforms that caught our attention. For each, we’ll provide a brief summary and share our insights on what we think of them.
Webflow
Webflow was created in 2012 and launched in 2013. It uses a mixture of drag-and-drop, with well-thought-out design tools. As part of their solution, it offers a content management system and hosting. Webflow has over 6000 templates to select from and pretty good design freedom. It is estimated that they have over half a million users. Some well-known websites utilising Webflow include Jasper AI and Dell for microsites. One of the main gripes about Webflow is that costs can increase quite quickly for additional feature add-ons.
Cost can vary greatly. A basic outline is provided below (monthly costs are provided, and discounts apply for annual payments).
- 2 static pages are free. However, you will still need to find hosting.
- A basic site is $14, which allows for 25k site visitors, and a CMS package is $23.
- Ecommerce can range from $19 to $212.

Vev
Launched in 2020, Vev is another popular no-code platform used for projects by well-known brands such as Red Bull, Deloitte and National Geographic. One of their selling points is the ability to collaborate and allow for multiple editing roles. Some concerns have been voiced due to its advanced features, which make it a little harder to master. They also offer hosting and CMS options. Monthly costs are as follows:
- Free option with a website that has the Vex watermark.
- A solo option costs $15, and a professional option with up to 10 users and three projects costs $59.
- There are also organisation packages and numerous feature add-ons.

Tilda
Tilda was launched in 2014, utilising a block-based drop and drag system with over 550 options and numerous integration possibilities (MailChimp, Stripe, Zapier, etc.). Tilda has been used for projects by Amnesty International, Museo and Kaspersky. It also boasts over one million users and offers SEO tools and CRM options. Some negative online feedback includes slow response times. One of the key selling points is its reasonable pricing and hosting, which are included with all plans.
- The free option with a Tilda ‘label’ allows up to 50 pages.
- A personal plan costs $10 a month, allowing for 1 GB of storage and 1000 pages.
- A business plan is $20 and allows for five websites and additional features.

Framer
Initially a JavaScript tool, it changed to a no-code platform in 2022. Framer uses drag and drop functionality, often referenced as similar to Figma for its interface. It also uses AI technologies, aiding its users with website creation. It has a vast array of templates, with over 2000 to select. Framer is hugely popular, with over one million registered users and over thirty million publishes in 2024. Some gripes online suggest that the pricing structure is complex and has limited eCommerce functionality compared to other platforms. Famous clients have used them for various projects, including Dropbox, Contra, and Patreon.
- Free option with made with Framer badge, includes two projects and 1000 visitors.
- Mini option for $5, one site, 100 visitors and CMS collection.
- There is also a basic, pro and enterprise option with various add-ons.

Potential Issues With No-Code Platforms
For some, no-code platforms offer the perfect solution. For others, they can be frustrating and too inflexible for their needs. Some potential issues can include:
- They can be inflexible, especially when you do not have the skillset to custom code.
- The inability to swap platforms means you are locked in with the system you built with.
- They are supposed to be simple with no learning. However, this is not the case. Understanding some tools can take a significant amount of time to master.
- As much as you customise the look and feel, they can have a generic look that does not accurately represent your brand.
- If your business expands, you may outgrow what the system is capable of.
- Over time, depending upon your selections, fees can build up and be more expensive than a one-off development build.
- What does the future hold? You are entirely dependent on the platform provider in terms of prices, and if they close down.
